Katie was bound and gagged inside a makeshift "dungeon" and only escaped after befriending Marshall and managing to set off a fire alarm in the Bilston High Street building where she was imprisoned n February this year.

She said today: "I tried not to panic and although I felt sick and was extremely frightened I quickly resigned myself to the situation I was in and my survival instincts took over.

"I knew that if I had any hope of getting out unharmed I would have to try not make them angry or panic. I did not sleep during my time in the cellar as I was in a lot of pain from the handcuffs, which were cutting at my wrists and it was very cold."

Boden and Marshall, 21, were today due to be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Boden hatched the plot after the break up of the romance that blossomed when talented musician Katie went to work at the Soundmasters shop he ran in Bilston.

Boden, from Frost Street, Ettingshall admitted kidnap and false imprisonment while Marshall, of The Crescent, Bilston, who claimed to be his girlfriend, admitted false imprisonment. Both were remanded in custody before today's sentencing.
