A motorcyclist died in a road accident in the Black Country today.

A motorcyclist died in a road accident in the Black Country today. The man's Yamaha R1 superbike and an Audi A3 collided at the junction of Walsall New Road and Sandy Lane in Stone Cross near Tame Bridge Parkway station.
The 30-year-old rider was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at around 6am. Part of Walsall New Road dual carriageway was closed to traffic this morning while inquiries continued and debris was removed.nextpage
Suzie Fothergill, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "The motorcyclist, a man, had suffered serious multiple injuries. Unfortunately despite the best efforts of ambulance crews nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."nextpage
The S-registration Audi A3 had damage to the rear driver's side. The Yamaha R1 1,000cc was lying on its side by the central reservation this morning. The northbound side of the dual carriageway remained closed from the junction of Sandy Lane.nextpage
Sgt Bob Hartill of the road policing unit at West Bromwich said he believed the victim was local, but formal identification was yet to take place.
