gallery12.jpgRush hour chaos plagued commuters on the Ring Road on Tuesday as a hit-and-run driver killed a female pedestrian, forcing police to partially close the Ring Road. A single trainer could be seen lying on the carriageway as police closed a section of the road between Stafford Street at the university and the Wednesfield Road junction. Traffic was backed up along Stafford Street as far as the Goodyear island on Stafford Road.nextpage

This battered old Peugeot 206 was donated to Albrighton Players by a scrap dealer after a trawl of yards by set designer Louise Lea. However, it seemed as though the car wouldn't be the star afterall, as it was 2 inches too wide to get through the stage door. But volunteers helped to turn the car on its side to force it through the door, as the actors and producers were determined not to allow their drama to turn into a crisis. nextpage

These Staffordshire firefighters have returned from a week's intensive training with the Royal Marines as they prepare for an expedition to Mount Denali - the highest mountain in North America - later this year.
