Profile: Stourbridge's Luke Benbow
Stourbridge frontman Luke Benbow is eager to return to full fitness and help the Glassboys with their promotion push.
Benbow, 23, is now in his third full season with Stourbridge, having scored 23 goals in his first season and 25 last season.
Injuries have seen him sidelined for much of this season, though he has still managed an impressive nine goals in just six starts.
Benbow said: "It hasn't been the best of seasons for me but hopefully I should be back soon. There's still time left and hopefully I can come back and help the lads push forward."
Benbow joined the football education programme at Birmingham City aged 16, before being selected for the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain.
He added: "I was recommended by Birmingham City to go on trial there. I went on trial, did really well and within the week I was in Spain.
"It was a great experience. There were some great coaches there, the likes of Glenn Hoddle, Graham Rix, Nigel Spackman and Dave Beasant.
"We all had our own villas, at the Montecarlo Hotel, just outside of Seville. They were great facilities. A lot of the teams that played against Seville in La Liga would stay at the hotel we were in before they travelled to a game the next day, so you'd meet players from Real Madrid, Barcelona and all the teams in La Liga.
"There was a lad there who's at King's Lynn now, George Thomson, he was one of the stand out players when I was there. A couple of them have gone professional now too – Ben Williamson is at Port Vale, Ikechi Anya is at Watford and Callum Murray's playing in the SPL."
And Benbow is hoping he can make it into the professional game in his career.
He added: "If that's an opportunity that would arise, then definitely. All my life I've always wanted to become a footballer. Hopefully Stourbridge can help me along the way to doing that."
At present though, he is more than happy with life at Amblecote, having previously endured a tough spell with Redditch.
He said: "I'm loving it. It's been a great time and I'm just looking forward to pushing on with Stourbridge."
