#19 - Battle of Britain & Poetry
The Battle of Britain service at the RAFA club was well attended and went very well. It was good to see the Mayor looking quite well and the weather stayed dry. What more could you want?
The next service is for the battle of Passchendaele. We will be welcoming a number of German school pupils along with their teacher, who will share the service with a similar number of English children. This is an annual event that commemorates a different battle or event each year.
The battle of Passchendaele took place over three months in 1917 and was one of the most horrendous of WWI. It was fought in one of the wettest summers and is known for the amount of mud that the armies encountered.
I am pleased that some of my poetry has been selected to be read in English and German during the service which will take place at the Wolverhampton cenotaph at 10.30 am on Friday 13 October. All services, standard bearers and members of public are welcome to attend.
