#17 VE Day
I always say that either VE Day or VJ Day turns out to be rainy...
This year VE Day was lovely with fine sun, but not too much heat for those who had to wear suits and uniforms.
The service itself was the usual prayers, wreath laying and two minutes silence. We don’t get much variety in this type of service, although I’m sure we have sufficient poets/writers who would be willing to contribute a few appropriate words.
It is a shame that it was not better known the service was taking place, as most of the congregation seemed to be Civic Centre staff. I personally saw very little advertising on social media and nothing in the Express and Star to say it was happening. The little I did see didn’t include times and presumed everybody would know the venue.
