Marching season
November sees the busy part of what a friend of mine calls the "Marching season". That is when we do most of our parades and services.
On 12th November, we will be mustering at 09.30 to lay a wreath on the grave of Miss Williams, a Tettenhall school headmistress who lost her fiancé inWWI and never married. When she died, she left a sum of money to the Wolverhampton RBL. This is an annual addition to our service in Jeffcock Road cemetery to honour the Dutch forces who were stationed at Wrottesley Hall and formed the Prinses Irene Division of the Dutch liberation forces. The service takes place at the CWGC graves in the centre of the cemetery where a number of armed forces members, including Dutch , are buried.
The 13th, of course, is Remembrance Sunday. This is the big one and forces will parade through Wolverhampton before attending a drumhead service in front of St Peter's Church.
We would particularly like to see more veterans young and old attending any of these services.
