Tipton Canal & Community Festival 2015

The recent Tipton Canal & Community Festival provided a great opportunity to take lots of colourful, landscape shots.

In hindsight I should have gone on the Saturday when it was sunny, but in I ended up going on the rather grey Sunday. However, still managed to take a few photos.

The grey sky can dominate a picture, so I zoomed in close for many of the pictures. The grey sky is still reflected on the water of course.

Narrowboats are colourful and so usually make good subjects, but these pictures are a little dark. We can't control the weather, so we have to look for lighter colours.

I had set my camera to compensate for the poor light. A higher ISO helped a little, but landscape shots like this one were more difficult. This is taken from the Owen Street bridge.

I think this shot, zoomed in, works better and we can't see that grey sky.

I think the trees as a backdrop for the narrowboats works better in this shot. The reflection on the water makes for a more interesting picture too.

I just tried to cram a lot of interest into the picture with this shot and it seems to have worked well. We have the boats and the people and some movement.
