'Rather than a hero, I regard this man as a villain...' - Your Letters: March 17

RED ROBBO IS NO BIG HERO TO ME
I was interested to read Rich Von Duisberg's recent letter praising Red Robbo. I assume he is far too young to have been part of the industrial disasters of the 70s?
I was either a works accountant or financial director at certain GKN Sankey companies and also at H R Turner Willenhall
I do not regard Robbo as a hero and blame his effect plus weak management as resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs in the Black Country in particular in the automotive industry. He perfected the wildcat strike which was then copied at other companies. His method was directly responsible for the loss of 500 jobs at HR Turner Willenhall. I had just started, had created a blueprint to keep the place open and a profit accrued for two months after which a wildcat strike at either Ford or Leyland resulted in massive losses at Turner.
No Rich, rather than a hero, I regard this man as a villain who's involvement caused heartache for those put out of work. I know as being the last man out, I was involved in handing out redundancy cheques to people who's families I also knew.

TRUMP BEHAVIOUR INFURIATES ME
The more I watch, hear and think of the meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky president of Ukraine and the bully Trump, the more angry I get.
From the very beginning, Trump tried to make Volodymyr Zelensky look silly and belittle him, the first remarks Trump said to him, "I see you have got dressed up" addressing Mr Zelensky like a schoolboy.
