LOOKING FOR OLD SCHOOLMATES

In September 1956 the Regis School in Tettenhall (one of the very first comprehensive schools in England) took in its second intake group of about 210 pupils. Those, then 11-year-old, students have recently turned or will soon turn 80 years old!

We – David Blest who moved to Launceston, Tasmania, in 1974 and David Barnes, who moved to Sydney in 1976 – were part of that group joining Class 1N and would spend seven years at the Regis School before leaving to attend university and/or begin our adult lives.

We two Davids have met again recently and after reading through a few of the early editions of the school magazine, Prospect, we wondered what might have become of our former classmates – maybe our being far away in Australia and having had access to the “Old Wolverhampton” website added to the immediacy of this feeling.

So, what did happen to the other students who started in 1N in 1956? We would be grateful for any information or contact details about that 1956 Regis School intake.
