JUST NO ANSWERS FROM SIR KEIR

December 18 was the last PMQ before Christmas, and what we were involved in was interesting. I will say that I am biased in writing this following a litany of issues the new government has created since coming in just over 200 days ago.

Simple questions were battering the Prime Minister as he tried to deflect and avoid answering. The leader of the opposition seemed prepared not only to ask clear questions with easily accessible answers but also to build a clear case against the PM that he not only had no idea what his cabinet was doing but also had a set script. It was based on lies and deflections.

So let's break this down a bit further; the leader of the opposition asked if the chancellor had told him what the effect of the budget would be. The PM's answer has nothing to do with the actual question. When asked about how the Budget would affect hospice care, the PM answered with: "We have put a record amount into the NHS in the Budget to deal with the problem that the Conservatives left. We will set out the funding arrangements for hospices in the new year. But it is the same old: they want all the benefits from the Budget, as she has said herself, but she does not want to pay for any of them. That is what got us into the problem in the first place."

There are no clear answers to be gained from the PM.

These are all just opinions based on what we have seen so far, but let's hope the economy recovers after shrinking since September.

NO JUSTICE AFTER ATTACK ON POLICE

Is this the way to keep our police safe? One trial that happened recently saw a criminal convicted of beating up a policeman so badly that he stamped on the officer’s head as he lay on the ground, which damaged his hearing. The criminal was convicted again, but because he was already serving a sentence. His conviction for this offence, which included the attack on the police officer who arrested him, was set to run alongside his current jail term, instead of protecting our police force and prolonging his jail term.
