THANKS TO CLUB FOR ITS SUPPORT
Through the Express and Star I would like to thank Halesowen Town Football Club and its supporters for allowing us, who are totally opposed to the privatisation of leisure centres in the Dudley borough, to collect signatures for our petition.
The Halesowen Town supporters were very friendly and they really did boost our morale and our numbers on the petition.
Two of our campaigners were interviewed at half time and the host, playing devil's advocate, put the opposing view and invited councillors who agreed with privatisation to call in.
There seems to be no councillor who will oppose it face to face, but written statements are sent out and seem to be the order of the day.
I did make a Freedom of Information request about the price to build the Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre – it cost £18.5 million of council tax payers' money.
To refurbish Halesowen Leisure Centre cost £8.4 million of council tax payers' money.
