Letter: Starting to lose my patience with our government

I’m sorry but I am losing my patience with this government and its supporters. Boris Johnson is expert at nothing; he is terrified of the possibility of being PM without Dominic Cummings to support him. Dominic Cummings is the antithesis of democracy. He wants no dissension in the Government, no divergence of views. He believes the country should be controlled by a few hard men at the top.

Dominic Cummings

That is the communist way and only works if the few hard men have the welfare of their country men at heart. Dominic Cummings’ raison d’etre is that whatever he wants must be delivered. There is no deep thought or strong strategy anywhere in this government. No-one has a clue what Brexit will bring, Rishi Sunak has no plan other than to pretend to throw our money at everything. Gavin Williamson can’t work anything out – all school children due to leave school or move on to secondary education should have been kept at school.

The rational way to tackle Covid-19 would have been to follow those with experience of defeating this type of pandemic – they shut borders and locked down areas where incidents of Covid-19 broke out. Instead we dillied and dallied and followed the examples of Italy and Spain.

I have been voting for 55 years and I have watched governments come and go. I have watched them promise and not deliver and if this Government doesn’t go soon we will become the sick man of the world, let alone the sick man of Europe as we were in pre EU membership days.
