LETTER: Global air travel has spread virus

A reader believes global air travel has spread the coronavirus.

The way I see it, this dreadful virus was spread so rapidly by the hundreds of thousands travelling in aeroplanes.

It now appears that, just as Europe is gradually recuperating from the virus, sub Sahara Africa is about to be devastated.

The world’s huge cruising fleets are now laid up, perhaps for many months.

Wouldn’t it be beneficial for everyone if they were brought into service to take over from the airlines for essential foreign travel?

The time it takes by ship, seven days from the states, ten days South America, 28 days Australia, would be ample time to identify and quarantine travellers.
