'Still lots of good people in world'
Over the past couple of weeks I have been out working in the community on various projects and events.
The news keeps reminding us of the disparity and unrest within the larger society both here in our country and on a wider global level.
How wonderful it has been then to see extraordinary people coming together to try and make a difference to others less fortunate.
I took a part in Halas Homes Open Day in Halesowen.
The day centre supports individuals with learning difficulties.
I am just about to start another project with them but the day was about local choirs, sing and sign, dance and entertainers all pulling together with the wonderful staff.
On to Wednesbury Art Gallery to open the Charlie Grigg cartoon exhibition.
Performers who have worked on Our Best Kept Secret project for the last four years gave up time to showcase their talents as part of the night.
Funds raised will hopefully help those suffering with dementia.
Alex Howell has curated the exhibition which is full of our Langley heroes’ work and we will be back later in the year with the book I am completing with his son Steve.
Next a fundraiser at Pensnett Social Club under the Omma and Chain radio show banner.
This time it was the kids who came and gave us their time.
Finally our Parkinson’s project saw us at Tipton Library where as always the locals came and generously donated to our ongoing fund.
Probably the biggest surprise was at Langley Conservative Club where we were asked to put on a show for the Orchard special needs school in Langley.
We had a great time then Terry from the club gave us half of the night’s takings for our Parkinson’s fund.
I felt obliged to make it known that in this time where it appears everyone is pulling in different directions so many pull together in order to try and make a difference to others.
