Use Wolverhampton Civic cash on Dudley Hippodrome
Wolverhampton Council is committed to spend £36million to modernise the Civic/Wulfrun Halls. Why not abandon that project and, in a spirit of Black Country solidarity, use the funds to refurbish Dudley Hippodrome?
Why do it? The areas around the Hippodrome, the Black Country Museum and Canal Tunnels are becoming a worldwide heritage attraction area and the zoo also brings in tourists. The Hippodrome could be used for major exhibitions as well as the traditional concerts.
The road connections and local parking are so much better than Wolverhampton. It could also help reverse the terminal decline of Dudley centre.
Wolverhampton would still have the Grand Theatre, art gallery and university.
It is probably too much to hope that our politicians would be brave enough to consider such an expression of Black Country co-operation.
