No need for another Aldi, find land for speedway
I am unable to believe what I have just read in this evening's paper.
In one of the most traffic clogged areas of the Dudley borough - Stallings Lane, Kingswinford, our wise council planners and counsellors are backing a proposal to build an Aldi, Iceland, Majestic Wine alongside a gym and a pub - all on the site of the former Ibstock brickworks.
Firstly, who on earth needs or wants another Aldi store? The one around the corner (the former Focus store) hasn't been open 5 minutes and now we need/want another one?
Secondly there is no mention in the planning details about the extra traffic and the fact that residents will soon be trapped in their homes as they will not be able to get off their drives.
When will the council ever learn that certain parts of the borough are full - without new, additional road infrastructure?
I'm not a speedway fan but it amazes me that the council can always find room to squeeze in more housing and commercial developments but can never, ever find land to re-house Cradley Heath speedway and create a lasting legacy that we can all be proud of.
