To popular tournament has become one of the key events on the region's sporting calendar, attracting darts fans from far and wide into the city.

There had been fears that it might have to be moved out of the area due to the ongoing works on the Civic Halls.

Undoubtedly there are plenty of other towns and cities that would have jumped at the chance to host such a prestigious competition.

And it is fair to say that Wolverhampton is not exactly filled with options when it comes to suitable alternative venues.

But along with several big comedy shows, the Grand Slam of Darts has been relocated to Aldersley Leisure Village.

It can't be overstated how vital the tournament is to the region's economy, and this move has preserved future investment.

Well done to the city council and everyone else involved for finding the event a new home.
