Birmingham-based charity Standing Tall is asking people to donate one hour of their pay in a Christmas project, and have launched a crowdfunding page online to support the appeal.

The campaign aims to raise £25,000 to assist at least 100 people currently experiencing homelessness to move off the streets and into jobs in 2025.

The charity says four out of five people they've given support to are still in the same job a year later, proving that the scheme is working.

“It’s the combination of matching the right person with the right job, the right home and the right help that’s making all the difference," said Christy Acton, the founder and chief executive of Standing Tall.

“Standing Tall is now looking for businesses of all sizes who are thinking of a good cause to support this festive season and want to encourage employees to give back this Christmas.

“If their staff can donate just one hour’s worth of their pay, we will quickly raise the £25,000 in our Christmas campaign which will help at least 100 more people to move off the streets for good in 2025.

“Experiencing homelessness is horrendous, but companies and their staff can make a real difference by getting involved.”

Companies already signed up to Standing Tall’s new campaign include Amey, Barclays and Network Rail.

The campaign will officially launch on Wednesday, November 27 with Standing Tall releasing daily videos on its social media channels until Christmas Eve to raise the profile of homelessness at Christmas.
