Express & Star comment: Patients not plastic should be PM's priority

The ongoing crisis in the National Health Service just seems to get worse and worse.

Is Theresa May looking out for the NHS?

We report today on a leaked letter that emergency consultants in the Black Country and Staffordshire's hospitals have sent to Prime Minister Theresa May pleading for more funding for social care to free up beds to ensure more patients can be treated.

It is a disgrace that our hospital corridors are full of patients waiting to be seen and people are genuinely suffering due to the lack of funding for the NHS as operations are cancelled

Figures show that time after time people are having to wait ridiculous times to be seen in our accident and emergency departments.

For Government ministers and health chiefs just to say sorry is just not good enough.

What will it take for the Government to finally take action to deal with what has become the number one problem in this country?

Should our Prime Minister really be seeing cutting plastic bottles and carrier bags waste as the most important issue of the day when we can't give our elderly, sick and vulnerable the treatment, dignity and support they deserve.

Day by day the tide of people calling for Mrs May and her Government to save our hospitals grows.

Enough is enough, she must act to give the chronically underfunded NHS the financial help it needs to ensure the safety of patients.

The winter pressures afflicting the NHS at the moment are no surprise and hospitals were already badly placed to cope and pleading for improved funding before they kicked in..

We don't want to hear any more about reducing plastic bottles waste in the future just at the moment, we want to hear that something is going to be done here and now to help our hospitals out of this mess.
