Government is to blame for social care crisis

Jeremy Hunt continues to whinge on about a lack of social care facilities and an aging population, but successive governments have been aware of the demographics for decades. The NHS was formed from nothing to become the largest employer in the country by introducing National Insurance and increasing income taxes.

Since their election in 2010 this Government has not only reduced taxes and NI contributions, but have also used our public services as a means to repay a huge deficit caused by global financial institutions, making so-called “efficiency savings” year on year. If they had abolished “tax evasion” practices and increased tax and NI instead to finance the deficit in 2010 we would not be facing the crisis we have today, but that would have forced the wealthy to cough up. Mr Hunt; your Government is to blame!
