This year’s Presidents Cup put a little more pressure than usual on the shoulders of the golfers at the first tee, as former US presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barack Obama looked on.

The first three chairs on the front row were occupied by the former presidents at Liberty National Golf Course to watch the US team begin their four-day match against an international team.

The occasion saw plenty of photos taken, with golfing royalty such as Jack Nicklaus getting involved too.

Meanwhile the players themselves were greeted by the trio before play got under way.

The only problem was that Mickelson didn’t quite get his framing right.

“I’m so bad at selfies,” Mickelson said, according to the PGA Tour website.

You got all the presidents in the photo Phil, that’s the main thing.
