Latest weekly Covid-19 rates for local authority areas in England

Here is Friday’s update of the rolling seven-day rate of new cases of Covid-19 for every local authority in England.

The figures, for the seven days to July 28, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the most recent three days (July 29-31) has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

In Blackburn with Darwen, the rate has fallen from 92.7 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to July 21 to 83.9 in the seven days to July 28. A total of 125 new cases have been recorded.

Oldham has moved into second place, where the seven-day rate has risen from 30.6 to 58.1, with 137 new cases.

Leicester has dropped into third place with its rate falling from 65.6 to 57.1, with 203 new cases.

Other areas reporting notable week-on-week jumps include:

Swindon (up from 9.9 to 31.5 with 70 new cases)
Melton (up from 11.7 to 31.3 with 16 new cases)
Trafford (up from 20.3 to 39.8 with 94 new cases)
Calderdale (up from 22.4 to 40 with 84 new cases)
Bassetlaw (up from 0.9 to 17.1 with 20 new cases)
Manchester (up from 15.3 to 29.2 with 160 new cases)
Stockport (up from 7.5 to 19.9 with 58 new cases)
