Detective Inspector Jacqui Lovatt, of Dyfed-Powys Police, told the hearing that the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

“On October 30, just after midnight, fire and rescue services attended Poityn Farm in Llangammarch Wells following reports of a fire,” she said.

“On arrival the farmhouse was ablaze. The farmhouse is known to be the home of David Cuthbertson and eight of his children who were in the building at the time of the fire.

“Three of the children managed to escape and alert neighbours.”
