Disruption on busy railway until end of service expected after tree falls onto line

Train services on the Cross City Line have been severely disrupted after a tree fell onto the line.

Damage to the overhead electric wires between Erdington and Chester Road means that West Midlands Railway services are currently unable to run to and from Lichfield Trent Valley until the end of service today.

Customers may use their tickets on board National Express West Midlands services between Longbridge and Sutton Coldfield via Birmingham New Street. They include the 11A, 11C

14, 45, 47, 61, 63, X20, X21 and X22.

The tree which has caused disruption to trains between Birmingham and Lichfield

Rail replacement transport is in operation between Redditch, Bromsgrove, and Longbridge via Barnt Green, and also between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield Trent Valley via Lichfield City.

Customers are advised to check before they travel.
