Motorway reopens after serious crash involving two cars just after midnight
The M42 in Worcestershire has reopened after a several hour closure.
It was closed southbound between Junction 2 for Alvechurch and the M5 for Bromsgrove due to a serious collision involving two cars.
The serious incident occurred shortly after midnight. The road finally reopened just after midday on Saturday.
Lanes one and two were closed, however West Mercia Police confirmed at 3:43am that a full carriageway closure was required for collision investigation work.
National Highways Traffic Officers and service providers were also in attendance.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "The road closure is likely to be in place for some time."
