Mother of 20-year-old killed in e-scooter crash pushing for new law 'as his legacy'
A determined mother has set out her wish to honour the life and legacy of her son who suffered fatal injuries in a crash while riding an e-scooter.
Celine Fraser-Pinnock has set out a plan she wants to see put into law around the sale and use of e-scooters, two years on from the death of her son Shakur.
Shakur Pinnock was just 20 years old when he was involved in a crash with a car on Prestwood Road in Fallings Park, Wolverhampton, in June 2021.
He died six days later from severe head trauma while his girlfriend Chante Hoosang, who was a passenger on the scooter, suffered severe injuries.
Since then, Shakur's mother, Celine, has worked with councillors and Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson to create 'Shak's Law', a planned piece of legislation regulating the sale and safe use of e-scooters.
She said: "What I want to see is things like Trading Standards ensuring that consumers are protected and retailers should provide safety guidelines - and there should be law enforced into the outlets selling the products, and if it isn't, they should receive a massive fine.
