M6 Toll junction closed as 'incident' dealt with
A junction of the M6 Toll has been closed along the southbound carriageway today due to an "incident".
The road's Twitter account said that junction T7 southbound, at Great Wyrley, in South Staffordshire, was the section that had closed.
Staff members working for the M6 Toll were on the scene dealing with the incident.
M6 Toll tweeted about the event just after 11.30am, saying: "There has been an incident on the M6 toll that has closed junction T7 southbound.
"Our team is at the scene assisting and we will post further information as soon as we have more details. We apologise if this has affected your journey and we thank you for your patience."
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers were called to the Orbital Island in Norton Canes at 6.20am this morning by colleagues at the ambulance service reporting a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a lorry.
"No one was injured but some hazardous materials had spilled onto the carriageway. Officers assisted with traffic management whilst the road was made safe."
A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Cannock were called to the Orbital Island in Norton Canes at 6.20am this morning following reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a lorry.
"Crews remained on standby as the road was made safe following the spillage of some hazardous materials. No one was injured."
