Black Country road blocked as car hits pole and overturns in crash

A car ended up on its roof after crashing into a telegraph pole on a busy Black Country road.

Traffic was delayed and buses re-routed for around three hours as a result of the crash which happened on the A458 Halesowen Road just before 3pm

The crash happened outside the The Stag & Three Horseshoes pub in Halesowen and saw a car collide with the pole, causing it to fall and block the road.

Two fire crews from Haden Cross Fire Station attended the scene along with West Midlands Police.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "Two crews were called to the scene from Haden Cross and arrived at 2.58pm.

"They found a car which had collided with a telegraph pole and which had subsequently rolled over.

"They made the scene safe and left it in the hands of West Midlands Police at 3.17pm."

Several bus services going to and from Birmingham were diverted as a result of the crash while there was heavy congestion in the nearby area until the road was cleared.

The extent of any injuries is not yet known.

West Midlands Police has been approached for further information.
