Sandon Road, a regular spot for flooding, remains a problem for drivers in the area. Cars were pictured last Thursday making their way through floodwater.

And pictures taken this Thursday show there are still problems.

A car is stranded in the rain last week

The stretch, near to the Shell garage, has seen levels of water build up after torrential downpour swept across the county.

Drivers have been either been forced to turn back or try their luck at trudging through.

Several vehicles drove through the mass of water, creating heavy spray for pedestrians and other motorists.

But a driver of a red Porsche thought better of it – turning around rather than chancing a drive through the large puddle.

It is believed there could be an issue with drainage on the road.

Several flood alerts were put in place as officials warned roads in the area could be flooded.

Recovered

Motorists were stopped from driving down the road last week as the area became completely covered by rainwater.

Several cars had to be recovered or pushed to safety after becoming caught by the high levels of water, including a Range Rover, white transit van and a Mercedes.

Victoria Park in the town was also flooded, with several cars already stranded.

And Doxey Long Stay car park was also closed due to a high amount of surface water.

People were urged to move their cars and drivers were directed to alternative parking.
