Person dies after being hit by train in the Black Country
A person died after being hit by a moving train in the Black Country on Saturday.
Network Rail said it appeared a person had 'intentionally placed themselves on the railway' in Tipton before being struck by the train at 11.22am.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and the entire Dudley Port station site was cordoned off.
Train passengers faced delays as rail services on the Wolverhampton and Walsall to Birmingham New Street line were disrupted while emergency staff worked at the scene.
The line was closed for an hour, affecting nine trains.
Network Rail warned that services were subject to short-notice alterations, delays or cancellations.
Other services were diverted en route adding around 15 minutes to journey times.
Some services restarted at Wolverhampton for Shrewsbury and Liverpool.
