Overturned car closes A449 near Gailey
An overturned car closed the A449 near Gailey this morning.
The road was closed between the A5 roundabout at Gailey and Junction 2 of the M54 for Wolverhampton.
Emergency services were at the scene and police urged drivers to avoid the area and allow extra time for their journeys.
Inspector Michael Eyre, from Staffordshire Police, said: "We received reports of a single-vehicle collision at around 5am this morning on the A449 in Gailey, at the junction with the A5.
"The vehicle had left the carriageway and flipped onto its roof.
"The road was closed for a while while we carried out recovery work and initial investigations.
"The driver was walking wounded and only suffered minor injury."
Shortly before 10am Highways England said the road had been reopened.
