Life in the fast lane: Drivers dodge sofa on the M6
A sofa had to be removed from a lane of the M6 after apparently falling off the back of a moving vehicle.
Highways England sent out a message on Twitter on Thursday urging drivers to be careful after the household item was spotted on the link road from M6 Junction 8 at Walsall to the M5 travelling southbound.
The Highways team made a quick journey to the area at around 5pm and removed the sofa while holding traffic back.
The item of furniture caused some delays while traffic officers stopped all southbound-travelling vehicles to retrieve it, but all lanes were quickly moving soon after.
Highways England thanked drivers for their patience.
