M6 crash leaves long delays after person trapped
Motorists are facing tailbacks of more than an hour after a crash on the M6 left a person trapped.
A Mercedes car and a lorry were involved in the crash which closed part of the motorway.
The crash happened on the southbound section between junction 7 for Great Barr and junction 6 for the Aston Expressway at Spaghetti Junction.
It happened at around 11.15am.
The Midlands Air Ambulance was sent to the scene but the crew was stood down.
They tweeted a picture from above the M6 showing the long queues of traffic after the crash.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said paramedics were also at the scene.
He said a person was trapped inside one of the vehicles due to the damage caused in the crash.
Two men were treated for minor injuries. The car driver was taken to Sandwell Hospital as precaution.
Highways England warned motorists to expect delays of up to one hour 15 minutes. Queues stretched back four miles towards junction 10 for Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Two out of three lanes were closed in the aftermath.
The route was clear by 2pm but delays remained on the stretch. Meanwhile a second crash near Wednesbury on the southbound carriageway has added to delays
