Severe delays after M5 smash

A car crash involving a single vehicle has delayed commuters on the M5 today.

The smash, involving one car resulted in an oil spill on the carriageway, took place at around 8.30am, between Junction 3 for Halesowen and Junction 2 for Oldbury on the northbound carriageway, in the Blackheath area.

Police were alerted at 8.46am and one person, believed to be the driver, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

West Midlands ambulance service also confirmed they attended the crash just before 9am with one ambulance and a paramedic officer dispatched.

No one was taken to hospital following the collision and emergency services left the scene shortly after 9am.

Two lanes remain closed past the scene of the crash due to an oil spill, with delays of 40 minutes.
