Lorry driver arrested after travelling wrong way on M6 Toll and performing three u-turns

A lorry driver was arrested after travelling the wrong way on the M6 Toll motorway in the early hours of the morning.

The heavy goods vehicle performed three u-turns including one at the tolls before it was stopped by the Central Motorway Police on the slip road.

Police were called after spotting the vehicle driving northbound on the southbound carriageway at around 1:30am.

Central Motorway Police posted on Twitter: "HGV has travelled on the main carriageway the wrong way as well as doing three u-turns including one at the toll booth at t4 before we stopped it."

The driver has been arrested for dangerous driving. It took place between junction T4 exit, Weeford Plaza near Lichfield, Staffordshire.
