West Bromwich traffic chaos after manhole collapses
Motorists face tailbacks as emergency roadworks affect a main route through West Bromwich this afternoon.
A lane on the A41 Expressway has been shut by highways engineers due to a collapsed manhole cover at the underpass close to the junction with All Saints Way.
The collapsed manhole cover is on the northbound carriage way from West Bromwich heading towards Wednesbury.
Sandwell Council engineers say one lane will be coned off in order for repairs to start and motorists should expect delays this evening.
Councillor Maria Crompton, cabinet member for highways and environment, said: "Our highways engineers are working to repair the damage as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to motorists, however we anticipate it will cause delays for the evening rush hour."
