Lane closes on Oldbury dual carriageway overnight
A single lane of a busy dual carriageway in the Black Country will remain closed overnight to allow workers to fix a 'dangerous' sunken manhole cover.
Council crews are working hard to raise a collapsed manhole cover on the northbound side of the Wolverhampton Road in Oldbury, near to the junction of Newbury Lane, after it was reported to the council earlier today.
A spokesperson for Sandwell Council said: "A manhole cover has fallen into the ground, making it dangerous.
"Contractors have been called into raise the manhole and concrete it back in place.
"It will take up to a day for the concrete to set properly. A single lane of the road has been temporarily closed.
"Hopefully work will be completed sometime tomorrow."
The council have warned motorists that it will cause delays during the busy rush hour period and have advised them to find alternative routes.
