Dudley Council wants to upgrade existing pelican crossings in Sedgley to puffin crossings, which can detect when people are waiting.

Two will be installed in High Street – one near Townsend Avenue and one near Bull Ring.

Others to be upgraded are crossings in Dudley Street; Dudley Road, near Arcal Street; and High Holborn, by Tipton Street.

The council has submitted a bid for £170,000 from the Department for Transport to help fund the work. It will also contribute £60,000 towards the scheme.
