Delays after M5 crash closes two lanes
Two lanes were closed off along the M5 northbound following a smash between a lorry, van and two cars.
Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to a section of carriageway between Junction 3, Halesowen, and Junction 2, Oldbury, at 3.10pm today.
One woman suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Drivers faced delays of up to 20 minutes with traffic queues stretching back two-and-a-half miles to Frankley Services.
Cars slowed to a crawl with only a single lane open to vehicles for around 40 minutes.
The vehicles were eventually moved to the hard shoulder at around 3.45pm so the two lanes could be re-opened.
Two rapid response vehicles were sent to the carriageway by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Spokesman Chris Kowalik said: "This was an accident between four vehicles. One woman was assessed for minor injuries at the scene.
"No-one else was injured."
Highways Agency spokesman Pragati Baddan said: "All three lanes were up and running again by 4pm.
"Because two of the lanes had to be closed there was some congestion with motorists experiencing delay of around 20 minutes.
"The cars were moved to the hard shoulder at the earliest opportunity to ensure we could get the lanes re-opened as quickly as possible."
