The driver emerged uninjured from the wreckage of the car following the crash in Birmingham New Road, Wolverhampton.

Part of the busy road was closed off following the smash, which happened close to Lanesfield Post Office at around 11.24am.

One lane was closed from the junction with Hilton Road, heading towards Dudley, causing traffic to build up.

Paramedics were called to the scene but the man, who was in his 30s, did not require hospital treatment.

Suzie Fothergill, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We got a call at around 11.25am and sent crews.

"We treated a male in his 30s who I believe had been involved in an RTC and the vehicle had overturned.

"The patient was out on our arrival and he was assessed at the scene.

"He was discharged at the scene. He didn't require further hospital treatment."

A lamppost was also damaged in the crash.

Deb Edmonds, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said: "We were called to reports that a car had overturned and landed on the footpath near a pedestrian crossing. It is believed a vehicle had collided with a wall and overturned."
