The lorry became wedged at the junction of the A461 Dudley Port, where the A457 Sedgley Road East becomes the Sedgley Road West in Tipton, just before 9am.

Police said the road had become 'impassable' after the vehicle became wedged.

Traffic tailbacks built up into Tipton and as far as Great Bridge as the lorry was waiting to be recovered.

Deb Edmonds, police spokeswoman, said: "We were called at 8.55am to the lorry, which had wedged itself into a barrier and was blocking the junction.

"It had hit the bollards on the corner of Sedgley Road West, and Sedgley Road East was impassable. The axle had also snapped."
