The electricity transformer, a 190ft structure, was taken to the National Grid sub-station in Painswick Close on the border of Walsall and Sandwell yesterday.
It was the end of a 5,500 mile trek which saw traffic lights, road signs, and lampposts temporarily removed.
The journey began in South Korea, where it was built.
It arrived by ship in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, and was lifted onto a low-loader for the 100-mile leg by road in a three day trip taking in Penkridge on the A449 and the M6.
