Resurfacing work will be carried out along pothole-ridden Wolverhampton Road, in Pelsall, a main link between Bloxwich and Brownhills.

It is part of a joint scheme between South Staffs Water and Walsall Council which includes water pipes being replaced around the Fingerpost junction area, followed by major carriageway repairs.

Walsall transport chief, councillor Tom Ansell, said: "People often say: 'Before you resurface a road why don't you talk to the water company to see if they want to dig up the road first?' That's what we are doing here.

"The plan for Wolverhampton Road, Pelsall is simple. South Staffs Water will go in first to replace water mains."

The work to replace old cast iron mains will be carried out in the school holidays.
