Wolverhampton school link dropped in buses shake-up
A shake-up of bus services across the Black Country will come into force this weekend – with one school link to be withdrawn.
Transport bosses at National Express say timetables are being improved for greater reliability across Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton.
As part of the changes, the 781 bus service to The King's School in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton, will no longer be operating.
However, it will be replaced by an additional journey on service 1 which runs between Dudley, Wolverhampton and Tettenhall Wood.
Bosses insist the changes are being brought in to improve punctuality for passengers across the Black Country and into Birmingham. They come into force tomorrow and impact on working day commuters from Monday.
At Lower Farm in Bloxwich the timetable is being revised because of concerns over unreliability which has been hampered by roadworks. It will see services start from the Walsall bus station at 6.05am to Lower Farm for 6.24am with the final stop at 11.47pm with regular 12 minute pick-ups.
It comes as work is being carried out to combat flooding misery at the problem-hit Stoney Lane, causing it to be closed for five months.
On the 53 bus between West Bromwich and Merry Hill some early morning and early evening journeys will be extended to start and terminate at Blackheath. Some of the 238 route will also end at Blackheath. But the 6.10am from West Brom-wich will no longer operate, with alternatives of services 83 at 6.05am, 48 at 6.09 and 49 at 6.10.
The 794 and 794A buses between Bushbury and Compton Park schools will also be retimed to improve school reliability. Full details of the changes are available at nxbus.co.uk
