Pople travelling from Birmingham to London have been made to pay the most since 2010, a study has shown.

Trains were cancelled between Stourbridge and Birmingham Snow Hill stations after a complete signal failure just before the early morning commute.

The fault developed between Smethwick Galton Bridge and Old Hill stations causing delays and disruption to London Midland and Chiltern Railways trains.

Buses and the Midland Metro were accepting tickets bought for train journeys to try to get stranded commuters to their destinations.

Network Rail engineers worked to repair the fault which was reported around 7am.

Rail passengers between Walsall and Rugeley were also caught up in delays following a track circuit failure just north of Walsall.

Commuters on the Chase line suffered 10 to 15 minute delays.
