Belkin’s new charging dock could fill the AirPower hole in your life
The BoostUp Wireless Charging Dock can handle your iPhone, Apple Watch and one other device all at the same time.
Belkin has unveiled a new charging mat that can charge up to three Apple devices at the same time – just as Apple’s AirPower device has disappeared from view.
The accessories firm’s new BoostUp Wireless Charging Dock allows users to wirelessly charge their iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time, in addition to a third device via the built-in USB port.
It is set to go on sale in the US in December and comes just as speculation builds around the fate of Apple’s own multi-device charger, named AirPower.
First announced during the iPhone X launch last year, AirPower is a wireless charging mat that can charge an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods simultaneously, and was promised for this year.
However, all of Apple’s traditional live events for 2018 have now passed and there is still no sign of AirPower – despite it being mentioned by name in the iPhone XS manual.
Rather than just a mat, Belkin’s BoostUp offers a stand for an iPhone and a separate connector for an Apple Watch.
It will support the new iPhone XS and XS Max, as well as last year’s iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. It can charge all versions of the Apple Watch.
