Elon Musk demonstrates mini-submarine which he says could save Thai cave boys
The SpaceX co-founder wants to help the remaining nine victims, who have been trapped since June 23.
Elon Musk has shared a series of videos of his SpaceX team testing a mini-submarine that he says could be used to rescue the young football team trapped in a cave in Thailand.
Although four of the boys were brought safely to the surface on Sunday, the Tesla founder has come up with his own way of rescuing the nine people still stuck in the Tham Luang Nang Non caves, in the mountainous Chiang Rai region.
Musk has posted several videos on Twitter, demonstrating how “a tiny, kid-size submarine” could be used to save the victims.
The billionaire said that an inflatable replica of the cave’s passage had also been created “so that the entire path can be tested without risk of blockage”.
“Even if it can’t be used in this situation, it can be fitted for many other scenarios,” he told followers on Twitter.
The operation to extricate the remaining eight boys, aged 11-16, and their 25-year-old football coach, resumed at 11am local time on Monday.
