A bright streak was seen in the sky in parts of New England, including southern Maine and New Hampshire on Tuesday.
The Mount Agamenticus Conservation Programme webcam on Mount Agamenticus in York County captured the event at 5:52pm, as did a security camera for the US national weather service.
Twitter users have been sharing their meteor-sighting stories online.
Observers are being encouraged to report what they saw to the American Meteor Society website.
