The works include demolishing a side and rear extension of the Stafford Street pub in Walsall town centre.
The former Banks’s pub closed in 2019 and is now a locally listed building.

It has stained-glass windows and a brewery-green tiled facade.

It was previously called The Prince Blucher, named after Gebhard Leberecht von Blucher who led the Prussian army at the battle of Waterloo.

At the front of the building is the initials NWB, relating to the North Worcestershire Brewery which took on the pub in 1902.

The applicant behind the development, Mr Salah Sedawi, proposed no changes to the exterior of the pub.

Important features on the front of the building will be retained and untouched, other than for repair and maintenance as required.

Internally, the two bar areas will be converted into two one-bedroom apartments, both with a mixed kitchen living and dining area.

At the rear, the existing storage and kitchen area will also be redeveloped into a one-bedroom flat with a mixed kitchen, living and dining area.
The existing skirting boards, architraves, staircase, chimney breasts and three fireplaces will all be maintained. No parking spaces have been provided.
